This is the first time I’m sharing my trading performance. I initially only invested $300, planning to directly trade using the strategies I shared.
Although normally it’s best to run a strategy in a demo account for a few months first to ensure the entry and exit points match the design before considering live trading.
But I was curious about the accuracy of the backtest results (assuming no coding errors), and also wanted to validate the strategies I shared.
This $300 is just the beginning, I will closely monitor the trading results and make adjustments based on the actual performance.
The important thing is to trade cautiously, and be careful about live trading before there is sufficient evidence to support it.
Backtest data
Because my trading strategies only started trading close to the end of December, the current performance is at a loss.
I’m also curious how long it would take before the account gets margin called with only $300 invested, of course the best case is to avoid this from happening.
Currently I’m not fully executing all the trading strategies, only selected a few trend-following ones to run on the live account.
Regarding the strategies I shared, I found in backtesting that profitable strategies do exist, but I haven’t been able to code strategies that can generate high returns yet, haha, maybe I still don’t have the skills to code strategies completely mastered.
There are a total of 10 trades so far, with 2 trades still open.
Seeing the win/loss ratio is a bit sad, later I realized this is because trades are triggered under certain conditions, which is understandable.
From previous backtest results, most of the time it’s waiting, waiting for that one big win, but not sure if the $300 capital is enough to sustain, haha.
Trading Performance Insights
From the shared trading performance chart, it’s surprising to see over 7% loss occurred within just a few days of trading.
This has exceeded my initial expectations.
However, after carefully reviewing the trading performance history, I also realized an issue I didn’t consider before: the drawdown (DD) of a single strategy is very different from the maximum drawdown (MDD) of a portfolio of multiple strategies.
So risk management is still an important issue.
Considering this, it may be necessary to design an EA that can monitor the overall MDD, but I don’t have such a design yet.
Perhaps next month when I share the trading performance it will already be a margin call, haha.
If the capital can sustain, I plan to incorporate new strategies with better performance.
I look forward to providing data each month for everyone to reference, so you can understand what kind of returns executing these strategies may bring.
